Last weekend, the Saints travelled far to face Aberdeen in what would be the final match of the season and for some of us the last match of our St Andrews University career. As the hype wasn’t high enough, Aberdeen are one of our toughest opponents so we were guaranteed a difficult match up. Soon after our arrival we began with the singles. Already the atmosphere was very intense with three of them going to a third set. After the singles we were all tied up at 2 all. Next came the doubles which were just as intense with another two three setters being battled out. Again neither team was able to take the lead, and the score was brought to 4-4. This left everything to play for in the mixed. In keeping with the theme of the match every single mixed game went to a third set and the adrenaline was through the roof. Point for point the Saints fought to the end against Aberdeen. In the end Aberdeen just managed to take the victory winning three of the mixed and bringing the score to 5-7. This couldn’t have been a closer match though, and was a good one to end the season with. Thanks for an awesome year and well done to Daniel, Danny, Edwin, Simon, Brittany, Hayleigh, Kirsty and Krista!
