Congratulations to the first team for their 7-5 win against RGU in the first match of the season. It was a really close match, starting off with Julian to be the only person to win their singles. Coming into the doubles, Nick and Jamie put their new partnership to the test, managing to beat RGU’s first pair, whilst Michael and Julian put last years practice to good use, beating the second pair. Unfortunately, the women’s doubles were less successful, with Sarah and Jess losing in three, and Morven and Stuthi also losing. At this point in the match, Nick’s brain began to tick and he worked out “if we win that game… and if they can win that one… and if they win… and if we win ours… we can still win the match!” Safe to say that Nick’s ‘ifs’ came true, and it was fantastic to see all our new pairs pull through to win the match. The mixed highlights definitely included Nick and Jess beating the pair that her and Rory lost to at SSS, and Jamie and Morven beating RGUs long standing partnership Kieran and Sarah in three sets. Well done to everyone who played – especially all the new players: Jamie, Nick, Sarah, Morven and Stuthi!
